Easter 2025: Pax Vobiscum!

Our Easter Theme for 2025!

Each year we at Saint Miriam choose a custom beeswax paschal candle design that will guide us as a people of God through Holy Week and beyond Resurrexit Dewfall, Son of Justice, Laudata, Apis Mater and now this year, after a trying start for so many and much fear, we chose ‘Pax vobiscum’!

‘Pax vobiscum’ is a Latin phrase that means “peace be with you.” The name of the candle repeats the first words that Jesus spoke after the resurrection. The overall symbolism this year of our chosen candle is rich! A olive branch, symbol of peace, covers a cross to announce good news. Geometric designs above and below the cross define the border that this light alone can break.

When Easter comes this year, our community will find its festive palm branches transformed into a radiant cross and a stunning 47″ custom beeswax Easter Candle is sienna, olive and genuine 24k gold that together will proclaim the resurrection and light every baptism and every funeral for the year ahead for we are a people of faith! Into our darkened church a new paschal candle will shine the first light into the darkness of doubt and fear the newly risen Christ shone the light of faith. “Peace be with you.”
