Catholic Apostolic Church of Antioch

Please know that our community embraces all right where they are, even in their brokenness. Our church allows all to receive the Sacraments - including Communion - for we see these as gifts of Jesus to those who are most in need. That is, they are bread for the journey – they are medicine or tonic – not a reward for being good.

Our inclusive Catholic Church tradition honors the sacred traditions and ensures order, but not at the expense of its people. Our church is a church for all, even those who, like us, often find themselves rejected and marginalized.

It is within our church that the Lord’s Table is truly surrounded by the faithful who serve God, and God’s people, with a compassion beyond measure.

Welcome, friends! www.churchofantioch.org

Saint Miriam Has A New Home!

On December 20th 2009 we took a great step and are pleased that Saint Miriam has opened her new home at 475 Norristown Road in the Blue Bell suburb of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania!

The Site Committee, worked closely with our pastor and board, and surveyed more than 100 properties and narrowed its selections to two locations. After much prayer and deliberation, with many hours of negotiations with the building owners, they reached an agreement during the last week of September, 2009.

Our new, state-of-the-art facilities features a 2,000+ square foot sanctuary with audio/visual capability, additional space for CCD and Children's education, administrative space, a full sacristy, a fellowship hall with indoor and outdoor seating areas, a kitchen and fully accessible ADA-compliant restrooms. Our property also enjoys parking for 200+ cars, an acre of green frontage and a modern aesthetic that fits well with the Saint Miriam ethos. The site is just large enough for us to serve, but small enough to feel like home! .

This endeavor will take a lot of effort and commitment from our clergy, staff, board, parishioners, and friends.

Obviously, facilities expenses remain even for a leased building. Not all the changes needed to turn an office building into a church were paid for by Mr. Scandone. We are still responsible for the building and grounds, maintenance, lighting, sound, and other worship and educational space equipment and liturgical materials. Some of the raised funding has been given has been spent on capital needs and building plans already. Further, as soon as practicable, we also need to begin saving for the next phase of ministry and to look toward where the future of Saint Miriam will be. We have always attempted to frame our appeals in reference to the mission and vision of the community of Saint Miriam, not just to bricks and mortar. The bottom line is that our continued mission, wherever we are, requires all of our continued financial support. We must see our giving as an investment in the people we will reach for the glory of God, not just buildings. God will bless us for our hard work and effort. We pray you will join us!

On April 11, 2010, our Diocesan Bishop and Presiding Bishop, along with a special guest, Archbishop +++Richard Gundrey, will join us as we Consecrate Sacred Space. Please join us and see why Saint Miriam is so special. And, please hold us close in prayer as we endeavor to fulfill our mission to God and serve God’s world. God Bless! Father Jim+ Pastor
