How to Contact a Priest in an Emergency
Saint Miriam is staffed weekly. You can learn the hours by clicking here to see our weekly office hours schedule. But we also understand that there may be times when you have an emergency or an urgent need. During these times, you may call the main number, 610-941-9800 and dial extension 703 and follow the voice instructions. Your message will be sent to the Priest on-call and someone will get back to you within minutes.
How to Make Funeral Arrangements
When your loved one dies, the family should call the Pastor for prayers and support. When you have your appointment with the funeral home, the funeral director will call the rectory to make arrangements for the Funeral Mass.
The preferred time for the Mass is 10 AM. Once the funeral is set, our staff will contact the organist and arrange for altar servers for the funeral. We will also contact a member of our Pastoral Care Team who will call you to set up a time to come over and visit and to help you with choosing the readings and music for the liturgy.
The funeral home is your liaison between the family and the parish; they will be very helpful to you in easing the burden of the arrangements.
How to Receive Communion of the Sick
In addition to the visits by a Eucharistic Minister, the priests go out into the parish community, as needed, to visit the homebound and anoint them, hear their Confession (if desired) and take Holy Communion to them at that time as well.
We are blessed at Saint Miriam to have a large number of Ministers of Holy Communion. Along with assisting in the distribution of the Eucharist at Mass, part of this ministry is devoted to making sure that our homebound parishioners receive Holy Eucharist on a weekly basis.
If you are unable to attend Mass due to an illness or physical infirmity, please call Mother Phyllis at the rectory, ext. 705, and she will make arrangements for a priest or one of our Eucharistic Ministers to contact you and set up a schedule for you to receive Communion. If you have an urgent need and/or require a Sacrament, such as Sacrament of the Sick, or Viaticum, please call our pastor at 215-701-4781 x 703.
