The (Very Reverend) Monsignor James Michael St. George, MS, MDiv, B.C.E.T.S.
Father Jim was born and raised in Erie, Pennsylvania, the son of Alton and Ruth St George. He has one sister, Andrea, who lives in their hometown with her husband, Glenn, and two children, Matthew and Stephen. Father graduated from college and became a licensed Funeral Director before returning back to attend Seminary in Washington, DC. In addition to his prior funeral and business professional experience, Father Jim's career has allowed him to serve as a youth pastor, nursing home and hospice chaplain, and as a chaplain covering primarily trauma and triage .In addition to his pastorship at Saint Miriam, he also serves as a Trauma/Triage Chaplain at a nationally recognized trauma and medical center in Allentown, Lehigh Valley Hospital. Father also has serves as an instructor at two major universities teaching Ethics, World Religions, and Philosophy, Introduction to Bible, Survey of the Old Testament, Religion and Culture, Catholic Theology, Urban Studies, and Justice. Father Jim was formally on the Adjunct Staff at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia
Father Jim is an alum of Gannon University, Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science (Mortuary Science Diploma) , Howard University, Howard University School of Divinity (MDiv), and also completed additional course training at Virginia Theological Seminary, Notre Dame University, Canterbury Cathedral, and Sibley Hospital and Albert Einstein Medical Center, in Residency within Clinical Pastoral Education. Prior to attending seminary, he was also certified as an eye enucleationist and has worked extensively with transplant patients, living donors, and their families. Father Jim was ordained as Deacon in October of 2006 in Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania at Saint Mary Magdelen, and as a Priest in May of 2007 in Washington, DC. He was appointed as pastor of Saint Miriam in March of 2008. Father was appointed to the Curia of the Diocese in March 2010 as Rector of Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary for the diocese and works closely with the Bishop and the Vicar of Vocations to ensure that those who called to the priesthood and deaconate are well trained and formed to live a life of service.
Father is a full member of the American Academy of Experts of Traumatic Stress, where he is Board Certified in Trauma Chaplaincy and as an Expert in Traumatic Stress. He also has been awarded the designation of Diplomate, in the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress. He is also listed in The National Registry, The American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress and the National Center for Crisis Management and is a member of the Association of Professional Chaplains.
