Saint Miriam is becoming STRONGER!
Father Harry was raised in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia by the late Harry and Jeanette Richards. He has one younger sister, Kim. Growing up he was part of a vibrant community at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Parish and became involved in the Charismatic Renewal which he attributes to fostering his vocation to the priesthood. Father Harry entered St. Charles Seminary in 1985 and was ordained in 1991 with a Masters of Divinity. He served in two parishes of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia prior to leaving active ministry. While working at the Mazzoni Center, a HIV/AIDS and Health Agency, he completed graduate studies at Temple University receiving a Masters in Social Work. Father Harry is a License Social Worker in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Father Richards was appointed to the Curia of the Diocese in March 2010 as the Vicar for Vocations for the church. He will serve to assist the bishop and work together with the rector of our seminary in clergy formation.

About the time he began graduate school, he met his partner, Ric. They share a home in Andorra with their four dogs: Katie, Sophia, Emma and Nikki as well as their two cats: Maggie and Isabella. Father Harry is currently employed at Community Behavioral Health.

For the past few years, Father Harry and Ric have searched for a faith community where they could worship together as a couple. Their search took them to the Episcopal Church and then The United Church of Christ before arriving at Saint Miriam. They feel they have found a welcoming community at Saint Miriam, one in which their faith in God will be deepened and that they can call home. They are looking forward to the journey they have begun with Saint Miriam Parish and to helping God bring us to where we can serve those in need.
